Manzil
Manzil is an effective compilation of 33 selected verses of the Holy Quran that have been conventionally read with the view of seeking protection, curing, and spiritual strength. These verses have been chanted daily, morning and evening, by Muslims all over the world to bring the divine protection of Allah to ward off evil eye, black magic, jinn, calamities, and soul-sucking, among other things.
Although Manzil is not a free chapter of the Quran, it is a carefully chosen set of ayat by renowned scholars (Ulema) when they have studied it (tazkiyah). Recitation is considered a RuqyahShar’iyyah- a prophetic practice of spiritual protective measures with the use of the Quran and prayers (du’a).
Getting to know the Manzil and its Source.
The Quran is a book of guidance, mercy, light, healing, and wisdom. All verses are imbued with divine power that feeds body and soul. It is Allah Himself who says in the Quran:
وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ ٱلْقُرْءَانِ مَا هُوَ شِفَآءٌۭ وَرَحْمَةٌۭ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۙ وَلَا يَزِيدُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا خَسَارًۭا
We nourish the Quran as a medicine and a mercy to the believers, although it advances the wrongdoers solely in loss. (Surah Al-Isra, 17:82)
This is the concept that scholars got out of this verse that the Quran is not only a guide but also a medicinal agent. Certain effects of some ayat when recited daily include spiritual protection, rooting out fear, and curing of diseases.
With the changing times, these verses were gathered by great scholars into a single recitation, called “Manzil”. According to Mustadrak al-Hakim, Sunan Ibn Majah, Musnad Ahmad, Musnad Abi Ya’la, Amal al-Yawmwa al-Laylah of Ibn al-Sunni, and Kitab al-Du’a of al-Tabarani.
What Is the Manzil (33 Ayat)?
The Manzil is composed of 33 ayat, which are takenfrom various chapters of the Quran. These are the verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, Al-Imran, Al-A’raf, Al-Mu’minun, Al-Saffat, Al-Rehman, Al-Hashr, and the Mu awwidhatayn (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas).
All the verses are selected based on their great defensive and therapeutic power. Recitation of Manzil is a comprehensive Ruqyah, which safeguards against any form of spiritual and material evil.
The Importance and Benefits of Reading Manzil Every Day.
1. Protecting against the Evil Eye (Ayn).
The evil eye (al-‘ayn) is one of the most invisible life dangers. The Prophet ﷺ narrated:
The evil eye is a reality, and anything that were to happen to destiny would be the evil eye. (Sahih Muslim)
Another narration says:
A third of the ones in their graves are there because of the evil eye.
It is the Manzil, a good spiritual cure to this invisible harm. Recitation every day is like armour that prevents the jealousy of other people, their admiration or hatred from affecting you negatively. As a student, in your working career, or as a homemaker, morning and evening recitals during the day keep you spiritually safeguarded against the green-eyed looks.
2. Safety from Black Magic (Sihr)
Black magic (sihr) is condemned by Islam, yet the existence of the same can never be doubted. The jealousy and hatred may influence people to unhealthy engagements, but Allah never abandons the faithful people in the dark.
Until the revelation of Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would seek the protection of Allah against the jinn and black magic. He only shielded himself with the two Surahs after that period. (Al-Tirmidhi, 1019)
These two Surahs have been practiced as part of Manzil, therefore, the Manzil formula is a full protection against sihr (magic) and belonging to jinn. Constant repetition, especially after Fajr in the morning and before sleeping at night, gives a powerful spiritual shield.
3. Protect thyself against the temptations of Shaytan (Satan)
Whispers of Satan (waswasah) are recurrent and cunning. These are what push believers out of praying, obstruct good works, and tempt them to sin. On account of the told true hadiths, it is stated that Shaytan flees away in the place where the Quran is being read.
Manzil verses are a wall that keeps at bay the satanic powers. When these 33 verses are daily recited, a Muslim will not forget Allah; he/she will have clear thinking and will not be distracted by the thoughts of laziness, anger, or despair.
4. Accident, Injury, and Disaster Protection.
There are so many uncertainties in the world, accidents, disasters, diseases, and emotional experiences. In the case of Manzil, a believer leaves the fate of his safety in the hands of Allah. The Qur’an promises:
And whoever is dependent on Allah, then Allah is enough for him. (Surah At-Talaq, 65:3)
It is a blessed experience to read Manzil on a daily basis and get an inertia of peace of mind and a sense of divine protection. Many of them testify that they were saved as they were caught in inconvenient circumstances or even almost died after they adopted Manzil in their lives.
5. Security against Internal and Untraceable Assailants.
We protect our material health with masks, drugs, and vaccination nowadays, but spiritual immunity is equally important. Manzil is a spiritual vaccination that shields us against the subtle evils, such as jinn invasion, nightmares, or psychic disorders.
The Prophet ﷺ encouraged the companions to use the Quran in Ruqyah (spiritual healing) since it has the protection of God that surrounds each of the believers.
6. The Miracle of Blessings and Barakah.
Every single letter of the Quran is blessed. Repeating Manzil in the morning and evening unites a believer with Allah (Dhikr), and barakah (blessing) is added to time, health, wealth, and relationships.
Keeping Manzil in the house usually introduces sakinah – peace and light of God in the home. It is also a beautiful practice to teach the family members in order to ensure that the house is under the mercy of Allah always.
7. Opening Closed Doors
There are moments in life when all the gates are shut – perhaps the employment fails, engaging propositions drag on, or personal struggles seem never to come to a close. Manzil is also a dua-based set, which supplicates the aid of Allah, his mercy and help.
The vast majority of believers could testify that the sincere recitation of Manzil opens the real doors that used to be closed close to the hearts, opportunities begin to appear, relationships are restored, and hearts are filled with peace.
8. Achieving Success in Life
Allah alone dictates success and failure, but it is the task of the believer to make efforts and pray. The Qur’an declares:
And tell, My Lord, get me in a good entrance and out of a good exit, and give me out of thyself a supporting authority. (Surah Al-Isra, 17:80)
This verse is from Manzil. Reading it on a daily basis will boost your spiritual strength and summon Allah to help you in your studies, business, or personal success.
With such a thread as your tireless dhikr ties you, you walk the way of worldly success and everlasting recompense.
9. Granting Wishes and Duas
The recitation of Manzil with sincerity (ikhlas) and faith (yaqeen) enables the dua to get a lot of acceptance. Allah hearkens to whatever is a lawful desire of yours healing, marriage, stability, peace.
When you are reading these verses, you are not reading words but you are talking directly with your Lord. They have all experienced how their sincere duas have been responded to by regular Manzil recitation.
10. Home Bliss and Protection.
A house that reads the Quran turns out to be a household of light. It is safeguarded against the jinn and tragedies as well as supernatural upheavals. Reciting Manzil at home, especially after Fajr or Maghrib, helps to save your family against any bad luck and increases harmony, love, and peace between its members.
11. Cure of Spiritual and Emotional Problems.
Alongside physical harm, there are numerous issues with unseen injuries, anxiety, depression, fear, and spiritual desertion. Manzil heals the heart since it restores the soul to the Creator.
The chanting of verses in Quranic lyrics in a metrical way releases stress and builds up faith, and eliminates bad vibes. Indeed, Allah says:
Surely, hearts rest in the remembrance of Allah. (Surah Ar-Ra’d, 13:28)
Ruqyah and the Manzil: Healing Practice as a Prophetic Practice.
There is no prohibition nor discouragement against performing Ruqyah (spiritual healing) to oneself with Manzil or other passages in the Quran. The practice of Ruqyah was carried out by the Prophet ﷺ himself to protect and heal, according to numerous hadiths:
Hadith 1 upon healing with Surah al-Fatiha.
Abu Sa’id al-Khudri (RA) had reported that some of the companions had done Ruqyah to a tribal chief who was bitten by a snake by saying Surah Al-Fatiha. The man was cured instantly, and when they told the Prophet ﷺ, he said:
What made you know that Al-Fatiha is a Ruqyah? You have done well.” (Al-Bukhari & Muslim)
Hadith 2 The Recitation of the Muawwidhatayn Just Before Sleep.
‘Aishah (RA) reported:
The Prophet ﷺ would fold his hands, blow into them, and repeat Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas, and run his hands up and down his body when he was asleep. (Al-Bukhari & Muslim)
These same Surahs belong to Manzil, meaning that reciting them is under the pattern of the Prophetic protection.
